NEWS REPORT: The capital of the German state Sachsen-Anhalt has taken the title sponsorship of the event
Naming rights of EHF Cup Finals 2018 awarded to Ottostadt Magdeburg
Just a few days after the ticket sales for the EHF Cup Finals 2018 began, the event's title sponsorship has been announced. The event scheduled for 19-20 May will be called the Ottostadt Magdeburg EHF Cup Finals 2018 as the capital of Sachsen-Anhalt has been awarded with the naming rights.
Lutz Trümper, lord mayor of Magdeburg: "The Ottostadt Magdeburg EHF Cup Finals have become one of our international sport highlights this year. In the GETEC-Arena we are expecting to see entertaining top class handball and we hope, of course, that SC Magdeburg will make it to the final tournament. With the naming rights and the marketing we have a chance not only to present Magdeburg as an impressive handball fortress but also to promote Ottostadt on the international level. We are thankful to the organisers for this nice initiative and to all sponsors for their financial support.”
Marc-Henrik Schmedt, managing director of SC Magdeburg: “The idea to award the naming rights of the event to Ottostadt Magdeburg was born really quickly. This title sponsorship symbolises the togetherness in the city of Magdeburg and the state of Sachsen-Anhalt in a joint effort to host this top sports event at European level. We decided not to go the obvious way of awarding the rights to a single commercial partner, which gave us the opportunity to win support of many partners who are taking part in funding the event. We appreciate their involvement and also hope that this way we can all contribute to the bid of Magdeburg for the 2025 European Capital of Culture.”
David Szlezak, EHF Marketing GmbH Managing Director: “We are pleased to see the positive development of the EHF Cup Finals since its introduction in 2013. For the second year in a row the event will have a title sponsor which highlights the attractiveness of our top club competitions on the European market. We look forward to working with both SC Magdeburg and the city of Magdeburg to deliver a successful event in May.”
