'Handball inspires generations': EHF launches campaign to promote women's handball

The promotion of women's handball and, for the next six months, also the Women's EHF EURO 2018 is at the heart of a new campaign which was launched on Tuesday, coinciding with the Women's EHF EURO 2018 Final Tournament Draw.

The campaign features several top players and has the objective to show and empower female leadership and competence as well as inspire players for top level handball and post-career steps within the sport.

In a first step, a video named 'Handball inspires generations' has been published and distributed, among others, to all EHF member federations.

This video, which shows a player's career path from the very top to an eventual career in coaching, includes Dutch international goalkeeper Tess Wester, Danish international Line Jorgensen, Swedish international and EHF EURO 2014 MVP Bella Gullden, French players Amandine Leynaud and Camille Ayglon Saurina as well as Edina Szabo Borsos, coach of Hungarian club side Erd.

Each of them represents a specific stage in a player's development: rising star, established player, top player, motherhood, the final years and post-career.

These players, plus some more such as German record international Grit Jurack, referee pair Charlotte and Julie Bonaventura, EHF delegate Carmen Manchado and Katalin Palinger, vice president of the Hungarian Handball Federation, act as the campaign's role models.

Over the coming months, they will appear in a variety of promotion activities, online and at matches (i.e. national team friendlies and matches of the Women's EHF Champions League), in the lead-up and linked to the Women's EHF EURO 2018 (29 November to 16 December).

Furthermore, between September and October, the 16 nations participating at the Women's EHF EURO 2018 in France will be asked to present their very own 'generation link' story, featuring their own role models and key players. The campaign will continue after the Women's EHF EURO 2018 and run until August 2019.
