Daunting away debut awaits Odense

The Women's EHF Champions League in Groups A and B will get underway with a number of exciting matches over the weekend.

In particular, Group A sees Odense travel to Montenegro for their debut against Buducnost, who welcome Katarina Bulatovic back from Rostov.

Her former team will take on Sävehof in their opening game in Group B, while Brest will try to claim their first points at this level at Kobenhavn.

GROUP A
Buducnost (MNE) vs Odense HC (DEN)

  • Buducnost welcome right back Katarina Bulatovic back after a year in Rostov-Don
  • the match will be Odense's debut in the Women´s EHF Champions League
  • the Danish side will be missing playmaker Mie Højlund with a shoulder injury

Metz Handball (FRA) vs Larvik HK (NOR)

  • Metz welcome Laura Glauser back in goal after her maternity leave
  • Polish international Aleksandra Zych will try to fill in at right back after Slovenian international Ana Gros left for Brest Bretagne
  • Larvik will have to do without long-term injured back court player Cassandra Tollbring
  • The Norwegian side suffered a surprise cup loss to second division Sola in midweek

GROUP B
Rostov-Don (RUS) vs IK Sävehof (SWE)

  • The teams have never played each other in European club competition
  • Rostov head into their fourth straight season in the EHF Champions League
  • Sävehof return to the continental top flight after a one-year absence
  • both sides have appointed new coaches in summer: Ambros Martin at Rostov and Rasmus Overby at Sävehof

Kobenhavn Handball (DEN) vs Brest Bretagne Handball (FRA)
Saturday 6 October, 13:45 local time, live on ehfTV.com

  • Kobenhavn debut in the competition after inheriting their license from FIF Handbold
  • the Danish champions are currently 7th in their domestic league
  • Brest head into their second season at this level with an impressive squad, featuring new signings Bella Gulldén and Ana Gros
  • after six defeats in as many games last season, the French side are yet to claim their first points
