Round 1 winners clash in Valladolid

After the opening matches on Wednesday, the EHF EURO CUP 2020 continues on Sunday with matches in Graz and Valladolid.

This brand new competition consists of four teams, namely the three organisers of the Men´s EHF EURO 2020, Austria, Norway and Sweden, as well as reigning champions Spain.

All these four nations are automatically qualified for the final tournament and will meet in this international tournament rather than take part in the qualification campaign.

Austria vs Sweden
Sunday 28 October, 16:30 hrs local time, live on ehfTV.com

  • Austria will be hoping to bounce back from their 43:31 away defeat against Norway on Wednesday
  • Former Swedish national team goalkeeper Mattias Andersson recently began a new role as goalkeeper coach with Austria
  • We will have to stand closer together against Sweden, than we did against Norway,” said Austria’s Icelandic coach Patrekur Jóhannesson
  • Sweden must put a narrow 29:28 home defeat to Spain behind them in the search for their first points

Spain vs Norway
Sunday 28 October, 19:30 local time, live on ehfTV.com

  • Norway are travelling to Valladolid with plenty of confidence, not least in their attack after the 43:31 home win in their opening match against Austria
  • The Norwegians can enter the court knowing that their coach will be the same for the next seven years after Christian Berge just extended his contract with the Norwegian Handball Federation until 2025
  • Spain will be striving to stay undefeated after opening the competition with a 29:28 win away against Sweden
  • This is Spain’s first competitive home game since winning EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia in January
