Court of Handball imposes fines on Kielce and Vardar

The Court of Handball has reached two decisions in disciplinary proceedings opened against both teams following the VELUX EHF Champions League match between PGE Vive Kielce (POL) and HC Vardar (MKD) played on 14 October 2018.

Various infringements were observed within the course of the match.

A brawl of limited extent involving officials and players from both teams took place which caused a match interruption, an excluded player from HC Vardar left the stands and tried to enter the playing court and an offensive banner with ideological content was installed by the PGE Vive Kielce’s spectators in the stands.

The Court decided to impose the following sanctions:

PGE Vive Kielce shall pay a fine of €5,000 for the unsportsmanlike conduct of their players and officials during the match, a fine of €2,500 for having failed to ensure good order and security throughout the match and a fine of €7,500 for the affixing of an offensive and ideological banner by its spectators.

HC Vardar shall pay a fine of €6,000 for the unsportsmanlike conduct of their players and officials during the Match, which takes into account the fact that one of the club’s players who had received a direct disqualification left the stands and tried to enter the playing court during the brawl.

Appeals may be filed with the Court of Appeal within seven days.
