FEATURE: Respect Your Talent alumni Giulia Fabbo will be making the big step to the senior Italy team, as the “Azzurri” prepare for a crunch doubleheader against Slovenia in the World Championship play-offs
Back in July 2021, Italy women’s youth team were celebrating lifting the trophy at the W19 EHF Championship, with a 27:25 win over Lithuania, as Giulia Fabbo and Ramona Manojlovic both scored eight goals for the “Azzurri”.
It was a win that brought Italy a wild card at the 2022 IHF Women's Junior World Championship, where the side finished in 29th place from 32 teams, but players like Fabbo and Manojlovic earned plenty of experience, easing their transition to the senior team.
Now, Fabbo, who was named the All-Star right back at the W19 EHF Championship 2021, will be spearheading the senior national team in their quest to make their comeback at the IHF Women’s World Championship for the first time since 2001, when they took part as hosts.
