Dunkerque releases Rambo

Christoffer Rambo has been released from his contract with Dunkerque HB Grand Littoral, the French club reported on Wednesday afternoon.

"We want to thank him for what he did with us, and we wish him all the best for the rest of his career," said Dunkerque coach Patrick Cazal, after making the news official.

Arrived in Dunkerque during the summer of 2012, the Norwegian right back played the VELUX EHF Champions League for the second time of his career, after playing it in Valladolid three seasons ago. He scored five goals in four games, including a three-goal high in Kielce.

But with Pierre Soudry being a strong contender on his position, he wanted to play more in order to be ready for the EHF EURO 2014, in which he will be taking part with his national team. "I think everyone has his advantage in this situation," said Patrick Cazal.

"Christoffer wanted to prepare for the EURO by playing more, while we are looking for someone who might suit our style of play better." The next destination for Rambo, 24, is GWD Minden in the German bundesliga.

In the meantime, Dunkerque has not announced a replacement for him, stating that "we won't sign anyone for the sake of having one more player in our squad. Erwann Siakam is soon going to be back from his arm injury, and he can play on the right back position as well. And Pierre Soudry is having a hell of a season so far, so there is no rush in finding anyone else."
