Three teams through to the Last 16

Seven teams directly seeded for the Women's Challenge Cup Last 16 were joined by four more names last weekend as DHC Slavia Praha from the Czech Republic, Colegio de Gaia from Portugal, France's Union Mios Biganos-Beggles and Ukraine's HC Dnepryanka Kherson clinched the tickets to the next round.

Slavia doubled the Czech participation in the next stage after they easily sailed past Switzerland's Yellow Winterthur winning both legs in Prague (35:17 and 30:25). "After we had won the first game by a huge margin we were able to deliver the European Cup's experience to all our players. We have confirmed the role of favourites and we are enjoying our success," coach Tomas Hlavaty said for the club's website. Prague's club will join their domestic rivals DHC Sokol Poruba in the Last 16.

The Ukrainian side Dnepryanka Kherson can have fond memories of their last weekend's trip to Greece as their rivals GAS Anagennisi Arta proved to be too hospitable hosts losing both matches on their court (21:25, 16:17). Kherson will be accompanied by their compatriots PO SC Galychanka Lviv on the starting grid of the next round.

Colegio de Gaia used their doubled home advantage in a much better way than Arta as the Portuguese outfit recorded two victories over Bosnia's ZRK Krivaja (30:21, 27:25).

While nothing has been decided in the ex-Yugoslavian derby between Montenegro's Danilovgrad and Serbia's HC Naisa Nis (25:24), four more teams made big steps in the Last 16 direction in the first leg.

SC Basel Regio will enter the second leg with a more than comfortable 25-goal cushion. The Swiss team overcome KHF Prishtina 50:25 as three players scored in double-digits (Aline Mathis 12, Seraina Hochstrasser 11, Sarah Baumgartner 10).

Last season's semi-finalists H65 Höör beat the Dutch side Westfriesland SEW 33:20 as the last season's second best goalscorer Jasmina Djapanovic led the Swedish hosts with seven goals. Turkish representatives, Istanbul Maltepe BGSK defeated Portugal's JAC Alcanena 40:29.

France's Union Mios Biganos-Begles overpowered Poland's Vistal Gdynia in two matches at home (34:24 and 25:22) relying mostly on Alexandre Lacrabere as the reinforcement from Russia's Zvezda Zvenigorod scored 10 goals in the first match and added 5 in the second.
